lunch.

i spent my lunch today walking around barnes and noble. mary beth called while i was at the office and i immediately said i was going to lunch, walked out the door, and answered the phone. she is good medicine and i'd rather talk to her than eat food any day. but i also didn't want to sit in my car, so i paced barnes and noble for a half an hour talking to mb. it was great. i was thinking as i was doing it, "this is great. this is great conversation. and books are great company." i love to be in a bookstore or a library, even if i'm not directly interacting with the books that surround me. it's like another love of mine: going to the symphony and falling asleep. i just love the familiarity and atmosphere it provides, though i don't always enjoy it in the conventional method. anyway, there is something familiar about books and i remembered today how they make me happy (though i've avoided them for the last year and a half...like God). i recently broke the pudding skin of my book drought. unfortunately, i made a poor choice in reading "Wicked". i had such high hopes for it to be witty and clever. it disappointed. but it broke the skin. so after work, i journeyed back to the bookstore and, with a little guidance from my friend blythe, purchased "the namesake" by jhumpa lahiri. i will admit that i would never have picked this book up of my own accord, but i do look forward to it. and that is the end of this blog.

I love pudding skin....I divide my friends into two groups....those who like it and those who don't...
