last.

i have one last song to write. there is a lot of pressure about this song. it feels like it should explain things. or at least give the album some continuity. it feels like it is the last chapter...my last chance to say something...to sum it all up. but then i remember, this is not the last song i will ever write. it feels like it right now. but in fact, this is probably not the last album i will record. and not only that, the is not the last "self" i will be. there will be many new opportunities for change. many new chances for growth. many new epiphanies to write about.

but right now, there's this last song. and what should it be about? i have too many ideas to sort through.

1) the big black velvet chair...
the reality of existing in the same place as God...the truth of that intimacy...

2) church...as it should be...
maybe talking about my hurts, doubts, questions and how you walk me through them and vice versa...etc
how we're moving toward something...
"everything will be fine, you'll see...i'll remind you and you remind me."

3) church...its unfortunate state...
maybe about how i'm sure of Him now...it's his people that scare me...the walls they build...etc

4) Eustace
a ballad encapsulating my favorite parts of the Dawn Treader
how he left his skin behind...right next to where i left mine

5) a love song...about a lumberjack...and his dog...and the house he built for me

i don't know. these are just a few thoughts in my head. none of them have a solid thread. but i could devote some time to them and develop something. anyway, these are my thoughts. you're welcome to feedback if you wish.

Hmmm..."..it's his people that scare me..."

Never forget:

1. Those are the same people He loves and died for, warts and all (actually, because of the warts!).

2. You can only fear that which has control over you. The issue is less about those broken people than it is about how much power YOU allow them to have in your life.

3. YOU'RE one of "his people"

and finally

4. Lumberjacks are people, too.

P.S. I'm assuming you already have a song about me. If not, there's your answer.
