it struck me today that asians don't have cheese. every other culture has their own ethnic-specific cheese. the germans, the mexicans, the philidelphians, the polish, the salvadorans, the americans, the french, the turkish, the hebrews...everybody has cheese. except, it seems, the asians. (carrie, please correct me if i'm mistaken) but why is that? and more importantly, is that why they have the longest life-expectancy in the world? and even more importantly, is it worth living longer if it means not eating cheese?
i just thought it was an interesting observation.

Oh my dear...the French LIVE on Cheese and VATS of wine and live longer than Americans and look better!!
They eat cheese for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert!!
They love life more too...and they have nearly ZERO cancer rate!
Speaking of food and wine...when are you coming over to help me finish off that Crown Royal? I'll get a big cheese platter to go with it!
:)
so i totally found your blog. i am a total stalker. excellent. and no it isn't worth living longer if it means i can't have cheese.
I love cheese so much and asians don't seen too! so sad.
India is a part of Asia and they do have cheese there, like Paneer (look up on Google). But in most Asian countries milk is not a part of the diet at all and so the people did not develop any cheese making traditions. Even in India they know only fresh, not matured cheese, because matured cheese is considered as "rotten milk" (no joke, read this in an article about exchange student from India). Additionally they say that most Asians cannot digest milk properly.
But you are right, who cares, since a life without cheese does not make much sense :)
