quick response to prop 4 post.

just to clarify, in response to tony's comment in case anyone cared. i want to clarify that i would love love LOVE to overturn roe v. wade someday. the "at this point" part of the statement in question is probably the most important and one, i fear, i did not emphasize enough. my stance is that i believe there is MUCH we can do in the meantime to lessen the need. i would, personally, find more efficiency in putting our efforts and our money into giving direction and support to offering other options to women in this position...caring for them on the individual and relational level, rather than using the generalized government as our means to accomplish our goal. until we lessen the need (which, i repeat, we need to do and take responsibility for!), the repercussions of an overturn would be, i believe, bad news.

i don't want there to be any confusion about the fact that i cherish every unborn life. truly and deeply. a friend of mine, knowing my passionate feelings about it, confessed to me that if she found out she was pregnant, she would abort the child. (how i would love to convince the world of the benefits of abstinence, but talk about a difficult argument...) we talked for hours about it, and after many tears and words, finally came to an agreement. she promised she would never get an abortion if i promised i would take responsibility for the baby. not a simple promise...not one i made lightly...but one of the easiest promises of my life. i don't say that because i think i'm so great...i say that because, how can i take the position i take and not make a promise like that? how can i claim to be serious and not put my money where my mouth is? i believe we can all make a difference by making, not simple, but easy decisions...loving on these women...supporting them...we have to get out there and get involved. that's what i'm trying to say. i could write about this for hours, but i'll have to leave it at that.
