this is halloween.

well friends, it is officially my favorite day of the year and i'm at home with barely enough strength to walk on my own. i had an incredible record going...a ten year streak of not puking. let's just say that in the last 36 hours i managed to make up for the last ten years.

what makes me so sad is that, not only am i missing halloween, but one of my favorite people is moving to london today and i didn't get a chance to call him yesterday to say goodbye. so much of a bummer, i can't even express it.

ok...enough of the pity party...i'm going to go lie down again.

goodbye, my friend josh! you are already very missed.

oh, and since it is halloween, i'll repost my favorite halloween songs from last year...don't have the energy to make one for this year, but these are amazing...check them out if you get a chance...

1. This House Is Haunted - Alice Cooper (The Eyes of Alice Cooper)
while for the most part, this list is not in a specifically particular order, this song owns spot number one in my heart and on my playlist. i love this song and listen to it year 'round. my favorite part is the huge guitar entrance after the second chorus. brilliant.

2. Superstition - Stevie Wonder (Original Musiquarium)
this one is less on the creepy side and more on the fun side, but it's still a long-time favorite.

3. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade)
i love the beginning of this song. i love the end of this song. i tolerate the middle for the sake of the beginning and the end. kind of like an oreo cookie. i never really did like the creme filling, but i also didn't like the cookie part without it.

4. Cat Suite - Danny Elfman (Batman Returns: The Soundtrack)
*sigh* i love the thrilling, tingly feeling of being silly-afraid...this song is like that feeling put into music.

5. Enter Sandman - Metallica (Metallica)
listen, there is no such thing as Halloween without this song.

6. Walking With a Ghost - Tegan and Sara (So Jealous)
doesn't need a lot of introduction. just fantastic is all.

7. Ghost Riders In the Sky - Johnny Cash (16 Biggest Hits)
who doesn't love this song?

8. I Put A Spell On You - Screamin' Jay Hawkins (Best of the Blues)
this version is even better than CCR's version. because creedence doesn't make wolfman noises like screamin' jay does.

9. Dead Man's Party - Oingo Boingo (Dead Man's Party)
yeah-heah. danny elfman owns me.

10. Country Death Song - Violent Femmes (Add It Up)
i really hesitate to put this one on because it is so intensely creepy. it kind of crosses the border from the good-scared feeling to the nauseous-scared feeling. but it's the violent femmes, so it makes the list.

11. Twilight Zone - Neil Norman (Twilight Zone)
duh.

12. A Nightmare on My Street - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (Greatest Hits)
um. i just feel like it's necessary for this to be included. because Will Smith is clever.

13. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm - Crash Test Dummies (God Shuffled His Feet)
doesn't really have anything to do with Halloween, but it creeps me out and i like it.

14. Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr (Ghostbusters Soundtrack)
who you gonna call?

15. Possum Kingdom - The Toadies (Rubberneck)
oh man. this song is so amazing. if you've never listened to the words, do it. it will give you nightmares for a good couple of weeks. do you wanna die?

16. Wrong Number - The Cure (Greatest Hits)
I LOVE THIS SONG. this is my favorite Cure song. again, not really about monsters or ghosts, but creepy in it's own way, so it makes the playlist every year. definitely halloween-worthy.

17. Thriller - Michael Jackson (Past, Present, Future)
scary on so many levels.

18. Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) - David Bowie (Scary Monsters)
david bowie and danny elfman share ownership of me.

19. Halloween - Dave Matthews Band (Before These Crowded Streets)
be warned...explicit lyrics included no matter what iTunes does or doesn't say. and also, if you have ever suspected that dave was perhaps from the pits of hell, this will verify that he is...from the pits of HELL-A AWESOME.

20. Overture - Danny Elfman (The Nightmare Before Christmas) surely, you didn't think i would forget. simply saving the best for last.
